事故で片足をなくした陸上部のホープだった女子高校生が、義足を手に入れて再び走れるようになるお話。フィクションですが、義足ランナーなど実在の事例を参考にしていて、リハビリ・障害者スポーツの描写がとてもリアルです。また高校生の感情や回復過程がとてもよく書かれていて、高校生の恋愛あるあるみたいなのも楽しめます。それから、アメリカの高校の雰囲気が良くわかるように書いてあって、ちょっと懐かしかったです。 残念ながら翻訳はされていないので、原書で読むしかありませんが、YA（ティーン向け）なので語彙も平易で、チャプターが非常に短く読みやすいです。脳性麻痺cerebral palsy（セリーブラル・ポールジー）は、さすがに難しい単語で私も辞書をひきましたが、、、。
